TEDMED – Texas Medical Association Austin is concerned mainly with the exchange of ideas from the best and brightest minds in various fields that can affect and influence medical care. The Texas Medical Association is always on the lookout for solutions to problems and issues affecting the medical community and the health of Texans. TEDMED can provide opportunities to find these solutions and contribute to the innovations that can improve the medical profession.
Over the course of two and a half days, the Texas Medical Association will be participating in an exchange of ideas with other medical associations and individuals from around the world.
In 1998, TED founder Richard Wurman created TEDMED. However, TEDMED was inactive for ten years, until it was bought by the entrepreneur Marc Hodosh. It now operates under the TED license as an independent event.
The first conference was launched by Hodosh in October 2009 in San Diego. A few months later, TEDMED videos were uploaded to TED.com to reach a wider audience. Since the first conference, TEDMED has
become a popular and productive conference that attracts medical professionals, famous personalities, and government agencies.
TEDMED 2016 will be held from November 30 to December 2 at the La Quinta Resort and Club in Palm Springs, California.
The Texas Medical Association
With 49,000 individual members and 110 member societies, the Texas Medical Association is the country’s largest organization of medical professionals. It was established in 1853 by 35 physicians and has since then steadily grown into the behemoth it is today. Soon, women were admitted as members, the TMA’s library was established, the TMA got involved in bi-partisan politics, medical students were allowed to join, and various research studies were conducted.
The TMA is involved in many activities, conferences, and studies that can vastly improve the health of Texans and improve the medical profession.
